Tour Description

This experience is made up of six main stations, designed to share our roots, encourage a deep connection with nature, and convey the essence of Costa Rican rural life. More than a tour, it is a living experience that invites participants to feel, learn, and create lasting memories.

The tour takes place along a 550-meter natural trail, thoughtfully designed to be enjoyed at a relaxed pace and in full connection with the surrounding environment. 🌿

STATIONS

1. Legacy

The tour begins with a walk through the forest, where we share the history of the Arguedas family and the origins of the farm. In this space, we also talk about the natural richness that surrounds us: the birds that visit the area, the importance of the bellbird biological corridor, and the plants that make up the traditional living fences or chagüites, so characteristic of the rural landscape.

2. Sensory Experience

Visitors are invited to reconnect with the Earth and with themselves through a unique activity: walking barefoot along a trail with their eyes closed. This experience stimulates touch, awakens the senses, and opens new perspectives, encouraging reflection on what we feel when we pause to listen, smell, and perceive our surroundings in a different way. At the end, participants can wash their feet and put their shoes back on.

3. Coffee and the Role of Women

From the forest, we move into the coffee plantation, where we discuss the origins of coffee, caffeine, and the history of coffee in Costa Rica. At the heart of this station is highlighting the fundamental role of women in coffee farming. We share local stories of effort, empowerment, and resilience—women who worked in the coffee fields alongside their children to earn income to purchase school supplies, clothing, and food.
At the coffee kiosk, the coffee-drying process is explained, and a tasting is offered using traditional tools such as the wood-burning stove and broom, just as it was done in the past.

4. Edible Forest

This station introduces the concept of an edible forest, a space that integrates fruit trees, medicinal plants, and useful species, promoting food sovereignty, biodiversity, and a respectful relationship with the land. Here, we discuss how nature can provide sustainably when it is cared for and understood.

5. Cacao and Pollinator Garden

This station features a kiosk and a developing garden with native plants that benefit local pollinators. We promote awareness of the importance of choosing native species, as many ornamental gardens with exotic plants do not provide real benefits to the ecosystem.
We also talk about cacao from its indigenous and ancestral value: its origins, traditional forms of consumption, and the birth of chocolate. Visitors have the opportunity to taste cacao seeds and learn about their cultural significance.

6. Sugar Cane and Trapiche

Here, we share the history of the sugar cane fields on the farm and how our family once relied on this crop for their livelihood. Visitors can taste fresh sugar cane and natural juice, and learn about the operation of the trapiche and the tools traditionally used to produce sugar cane syrup. Although syrup is not produced during the tour, it remains an essential part of the historical and cultural explanation.

Traditional Costa Rican Lunch

To close this experience in a special way, we share a traditional Costa Rican lunch, prepared with time-honored recipes and lots of care, just as it is enjoyed in rural homes throughout the country.

The main dish varies depending on the day, allowing us to offer different flavors of Costa Rican cuisine, always accompanied by a protein of your choice and made with fresh, local ingredients.

The experience is complemented with traditional Costa Rican beverages, perfect for refreshing and continuing to connect with our culture.
This moment invites guests to sit down, share the table, and enjoy the experience at a relaxed pace—celebrating flavors, tradition, and the true essence of Costa Rican rural life.
